Tips for Selecting Photos
Selecting photos for a display can be an overwhelming task. This guideline was developed to assist you with that task.
Look for photos that include:
- Baby (consider including parents and siblings)
- Youth (maybe include, neighbors, friends)
- 1st (first day of school, first car, first job, first house, etc.)
- School (productions, clubs, sports, prom, college etc.)
- Events (baptisms, birthdays, graduations, weddings, anniversaries etc.)
- Family (spouse, children, grandchildren, God children, etc.)
- Try to include all stages of your loved one’s life.
Also:
- Pets
- Vacations
- Hobbies
- Awards
- Make a list of family and friends you want to include in the display (to avoid showing “favorites” limit photos that include the same friend or family member)
- Keep the memories happy to evoke joy. Avoid bad times, heartbreaks, sickness, injuries (except happy recoveries) or tragedies (unless including triumphs over tragedies)
- Look closely at photo to inspect clarity. If you have different photos of the same subject matter, the photos with the cleanest lines are easiest to edit and enlarge if needed
Other Ideas:
- You can include photos of a home they lived in, a school they attended or a car they were passionate about.
- Hobby projects, Club logos, Awards etc. make great additions to the display.
- Mementos, vacation keepsakes or items from a collection can be included.
- Personal effects like a favorite hat, reading glasses, or fancy purse gives a feeling of their presences. Large scale items should be approved by funeral home/church.
